In the improbable case you read this blog and also have seen the film adaptation of Douglas Adam's book The Hitchiker's Guide To The Galaxy, there is also little chance you are interested to know that, as it is said in IMDB:
The initial scene, with the dolphins prancing about, is a dolphin show in the "Loro Parque" Zoo, in Puerto de la Cruz, Tenerife, Spain.
We were amazed the first time we watch the film in the cinema, because Loro Parque and its logo (look closely to dolphin trainers) are very well known here. Tenerife is the biggest of the Canary Islands (I live in Gran Canaria) and Loro Parque (Parrot Park) is like a little theme park specialized in animal shows. It begun with parrots but now have other exotic animals, like dolphins and penguins!
My girlfriend quite likes Loro Parque (and The Hitchiker's Guide, btw) and the last time she was there, took me this gift:
How Tux ended promoting Loro Parque? Don't know. But the answer is 42.
What magazines do you subscribe to, and why?
Paid subscriptions, only to Sky & Telescope. It's the best astronomy magazine out there: great articles which cover both observing and more theoric articles about cosmology and astrophysics. I used to be subscribed to Linux Journal, which is a great magazine too, but the amount of articles in the web killed my interested in it. I also receive Astronomia, on which I wrote years ago.
What was the first movie you remember seeing in a movie theater?
Question submitted by mainmor.
Walt Disney's. I remember to go to the cinema after swimming pool in the summer, when I was a kid, to see Disney's classics.
This weeked, after the sun is set and before the moon rises, you can see some falling stars. Perseids, the meteor shower, has its activity peak on Aug 12th around 23 GMT. Because the phase of the moon is still near full, dim meteors will vanish when our satellite climbs in the Eastern sky, very near Perseus. this is not the best year to enjoy summer meteors.
This Friday I tried to see some perseids along some friends, but in low latitudes (28 degrees) is even harder. So I took my Canon 350D and took some shots to the sky. This photo shows Scorpius. The brightest star is actually planet Jupiter.
Fútbol Club Barcelona was the winner of Spaniard Liga and the European Champion's Cup. During this pre-season weeks, the team is in America and yesterday, Barça visited NASA facilities in Houston and talked with International Space Station.
«Rick Labrode, NASA Flight Director, introduced the unusual guests to Mission control, the 24 hour command hub of all America's space activity. Later, Frank Rijkaard and the three club captains made contact with astronauts Jeff Williams, Pavel Vinogradov and Thomas Reiter of the International Space Station via video link the first time representatives of a football team have spoken to anyone in space».
How cute were you as a baby/child? Let's see those baby pics!
This is me around 5 years old or so. Used as
header in my first home page, this was the only photo of me available
in Internet during 10 years, more or less. I think the next one was
posted by Loic in his blog when we met together.
